Aruta, Labritz win PGA Match Play Championships
May 4th 2017 - After four days of grueling head-to-head match play, two winners arise in the 2017 MasterCard LIPGA and WPGA Championships. On Long Island, Anthony Aruta of North Shore faced off against Mark Brown of Tam O'Shanter, finishing 5&4 at Seawane Country Club. This win marks Aruta's second consecutive win.

In Westchester, Brian Gaffney of Quaker Ridge sought to unseat reigning champion, Rob Laritz of Glen Arbor, who was looking for his third consecutive win in the championship. For the front nine, Gaffney and Labritz went blow for blow, often trading advantages. On the back nine, Labritz took the lead and after some impressive putting by Gaffney to stay alive in the match, Labritz finally secured his third straight win, finishing 3&2.
