Metropolitan PGA Announces 2021 Rolex Players of the Year

The Metropolitan Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America reveals five recipients of the 2021 Rolex Player of the Year awards.
 
ELMSFORD, N.Y., November 15, 2021 – The Metropolitan Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (Met PGA) has announced that Danny Balin of Fresh Meadow Country Club has been named the 2021 Rolex Met PGA Player of the Year. We are also pleased to announce our Players of the Year in the following categories: Women’s Player of the Year, Liz Caron (Mill River Club), Senior Player of the Year, Rob Labritz (GlenArbor Golf Club), Senior Women’s Player of the Year, C.J. Reeves (Century Country Club) and Assistant Player of the Year, Peter Ballo (Silvermine Golf Club)
 
Balin put together a stellar 2021 campaign where he compiled nine top-ten finishes and led the leaderboard at two majors including the POLO Met PGA Head Professional Championship by carding a two-round score of 127 (-13) and the Lenox Advisors/NFP New York State Open by putting together a three-round score of 207 (-6) at the historic Bethpage State Park-Black Course. The Fresh Meadow Country Club Head Professional added to his lengthy list of accolades in 2021 by collecting second place honors at the Met Professional Championship en route to securing the 2021 Player of the Year award. This is Balin’s sixth Player of the Year honor.
 
Caron earned her first Rolex Women’s Player of the Year award by compiling a pair of victories at the 36 Hole Met PGA Women’s Championship with a score of  145 (+5) and at the Women’s Match Play where she defended her top-seed ranking and took down three different opponents, including third-seeded, Carina Capobianco in the finals by a score of 6 and 4. In 2021, the Mill River Assistant Professional displayed consistent success as she totaled seven top-ten finishes in Met PGA events to capture Women’s Player of the Year honors.
 
Labritz closed out the 2021 season by registering six finishes in the top ten in Met PGA events to earn his first-career Senior Player of the Year title. The GlenArbor Director of Golf finished atop the leaderboard at the Met Professional Championship by putting together a three-round score of 203 (-7) to secure the victory at Huntington Crescent Club. He also finished in second place in the Met PGA Senior Championship that featured an eagle on the 15th hole in the second round to solidify a two-round score of 138 (-2).  
 
Reeves earned her third-career Senior Women’s Player of the Year award by finishing in the top ten on four separate occasions in 2021. The Century Country Club Assistant Professional highlighted her season by placing first among the Seniors in the Lincoln Women’s Met Open Championship by putting together a trio of birdies to complete a two-round score of 153 (+5) at The Apawamis Club.
 
Ballo showed talent, grit, and consistency in 2021 to earn his first Assistant Player of the Year honor. The Silvermine Golf Club Assistant Professional earned twelve top 10 finishes throughout the season, four of which were tournament victories. Ballo started off the season strong with a first-place finish at the Westchester PGA Championship and continued his consistent play with a major victory at the Lincoln Met PGA Championship.
