Job Description:
General Statement of Duties
Manages and oversees the operation of an 18-hole municipal golf course including facilities and grounds maintenance, turf management, staff supervision, and the planning, budgeting and procurement of equipment and supplies.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Professional Golf Course Management, Business/Public Administration, or related field, plus six (6) years of related professional experience in recreational/golf facility management with four (4) years of supervisory experience.
Professional Golf Association Certification or Club Management Association America Certification preferred.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of golf course administration for a large, heavily utilized municipal course.
- Thorough knowledge of the game of golf.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, direct and coordinate all activities involved in the administration and operation of a municipal golf course.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and addressing occupational hazards related to the operation, care and maintenance of a municipal golf course, ensuring employees and public safety.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial operations, including collection and deposit of daily receipts, management of revolving funds; and preparation of the production of financial reports.
- Demonstrated knowledge of turf maintenance, including tools, materials, methods, and practices in the care and maintenance of golf course grounds, buildings, and facilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Golf Trac software (or equivalent) for payments, membership management, tee time reservations and report generation.
- Demonstrated experience in customer communication platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and interactive websites, with the ability to manage push notifications, text/email communications, and newsletters.
- Proven experience supervising staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and payroll administration.
- Proven experience in capital improvement planning, budgeting, accounting and purchasing.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including strong public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and customized golf software.
- Proven ability to interact tactfully and effectively with the general public, golf professionals, golf groups, media, Town departments, supervisors, and employees.
Compensation: $118,445 – $134,672
